HIFI has raised a $37 million Series A led by Left Lane Capital to expand the payment infrastructure it sells to fintech developers and financial institutions. Its software lets those customers take in money from bank accounts, cards or digital wallets, convert between dollars and stablecoins, and route a payout to another bank account, card or wallet through one API.
A business can fund a virtual account through a bank transfer; HIFI converts the deposit into stablecoins, settles it over blockchain rails and converts it back for a local payout. The same platform handles customer checks, sanctions screening, routing documents and reconciliation, replacing several integrations that a payments team would otherwise have to connect and monitor.
HIFI says its platform now processes more than $7 billion annually. Usage among existing customers has grown more than fourfold over the past six months, while companies building on the system have onboarded more than 10,000 businesses and 200,000 individuals. Those figures describe payment volume and customer reach, not HIFI’s revenue.
Payments aren’t the whole ambition. The company also lets institutions program approval rules and settlement conditions for tokenized assets. Its platform participated in a July DTCC tokenized-repo pilot and supported a live Tradeweb repo transaction between DRW and Marex; HIFI has also paired its settlement technology with Visa Direct for stablecoin-funded card payouts.
The company plans to use the financing to obtain additional regulatory licenses, hire in New York and selected international markets, and extend the product into cards and capital markets. Left Lane partner Matt Miller is joining HIFI’s board as part of the round.
HIFI remains a financial-technology provider rather than a bank, with Cross River Bank providing banking and payment services under applicable agreements. The licensing push matters because HIFI wants more of that operating stack to sit under its own permissions as it moves into custody, controls and other institutional transactions.
