OpenAI is rolling out Dots, persistent AI agents for eligible Pro and Business Premium subscribers and for enterprise workspaces that opt into a beta. A Dot can take work across approved applications, continue without a new prompt at every step and bring results back for review. Reuters, citing Bloomberg, reported separately that OpenAI is in early talks to raise at least $30 billion at a roughly $1.4 trillion pre-money valuation.

Rather than operating only in a chat window, each Dot runs through a separate cloud computer and browser and can connect to more than 4,000 apps, according to OpenAI. The user selects which apps it may access and sets rules that permit an action, require approval or block it. The agent retains context when a conversation moves among ChatGPT, Slack and Microsoft Teams.

Dots are rolling out to Pro and Business Premium users in eligible markets, with the first agent included at no added charge. Enterprise, Education and Healthcare workspaces can enable a beta, but OpenAI does not specify its pricing. Work sent through Codex or ChatGPT Work uses those products’ existing allowances, placing deeper tasks within their established usage models.

The prospective financing remains a report, not a closed round. Reuters said Bloomberg described the discussions as early and subject to change, with investor demand leading the process; OpenAI did not comment. The proposed round would provide bridge financing in place of an IPO, and the roughly $1.4 trillion valuation excludes the new capital.

OpenAI’s previous round closed March 31 with $122 billion in committed capital at an $852 billion post-money valuation. Those figures are not directly comparable with the new report: at least $30 billion is a minimum, not a final round size, while the reported $1.4 trillion marker is pre-money rather than post-money.

OpenAI is also previewing specialist Dots with separate identities and credentials for jobs such as invoice processing, customer support and commercial contracting. Participating companies define the tools, responsibilities and approval steps, while OpenAI is working with Microsoft to integrate governance through Agent 365. OpenAI cautions that Dots can make mistakes and keeps sensitive actions subject to human review or execution.
