VoltaGrid builds and runs modular natural-gas microgrids for data centers and industrial sites that need firm electricity on site. The Houston company closed a $775 million primary equity investment from Blackstone Tactical Opportunities-managed funds and Halliburton Company, giving it fresh capital for its expansion. An accompanying secondary sale paid existing holders rather than VoltaGrid.

The physical product is more than a bank of generators. VoltaGrid pairs natural-gas units with switchgear, fuel processing and software that starts and stops equipment, balances loads and monitors safety. Operating data is transmitted to VoltaGrid’s cloud and customer portal, where clients can track equipment condition, power use, emissions, projected costs and invoices.

Under its Energy as a Service offering, VoltaGrid packages microgrid equipment, asset management and energy optimization into a service contract. The company says that arrangement lets customers treat the infrastructure as an operating expense instead of making an upfront capital purchase. It also supplies portable power and compressed-natural-gas fuel to utilities and other industrial operators.

The closing materially changed the deal announced in May. VoltaGrid said the secondary portion grew from $225 million to $800 million, lifting the combined transaction to $1.575 billion without changing the primary investment. The secondary purchase generated no proceeds for the company, preserving the distinction between new growth capital and liquidity for existing holders.

VoltaGrid has attached that system to a large named deployment. In October 2025, the company and Oracle announced that VoltaGrid would deploy 2,300 megawatts of infrastructure for Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s next-generation AI data centers, using natural gas from Energy Transfer’s pipeline network. The companies said the modular system was designed to handle variable AI power demand.
