Sifted reports that Yazen, a Swedish digital obesity clinic combining prescription weight-loss treatment with coaching in an app, has raised approximately $55.9 million in fresh funding led by Verdane. The financing is intended to support expansion across Europe. Figures are in US dollars, converted at October 7, 2026 reference rates.

Yazen describes a patient journey that starts with a nurse consultation and health screening, including blood tests, before a clinician decides whether prescription treatment is appropriate. Doctors then build an individualized plan and adjust it through regular app consultations, bringing medication and lifestyle changes into the same service.

The care team extends beyond the prescriber. Patients can work with a Yazen coach, dietitian, psychologist and personal trainer, while the app tracks progress and provides educational and community tools. The product is an ongoing care program for adults managing overweight or obesity, rather than an online storefront for weight-loss drugs.

Yazen’s subscription terms say customer payments cover digital healthcare, consultations and support tools. Any medicine is prescribed only after a clinical assessment and sold separately by an independent pharmacy. Yazen therefore earns from the care surrounding treatment, not from dispensing the medicine itself.

Founded in Sweden in 2021, Yazen says it designed the model for international delivery. Expanding it requires more than translating the app: the company must reproduce patient screening, multidisciplinary clinical teams and continuing follow-up as it enters additional European markets.
