The December 2020 $2B and August 2017 at-least-$2B figures were fundraising targets, not documented closes. A later $5B description conflicts with the 2020 target, so the final amount remains unresolved. Forbes reported a $3B October 2018 commitment/close at a $75B valuation, but ByteDance declined comment. Reuters and Axios retrospectively reported about $1B raised at the end of 2016. Toutiao announced a $100M Series C in 2014. TechNode described earlier eight-digit 2013 and seven-digit 2012 rounds without exact amounts. The imported March 2012 Source Code Capital seed is removed: the firm says it was founded in 2014. This is not a complete legal financing register or present-day cap table. This is covered public-source history, not an exhaustive issuer ledger.

Sequoia Capital (lead) · KKR (lead)
Reuters said the round aimed to raise $2B and was drawing to a close, not that it had closed at that amount. The Information later reported a $5B funding round at the same $180B valuation (https://www.theinformation.com/articles/bytedances-revenue-more-than-doubled-in-2020); the paywalled report's indexed excerpt does not establish an exact close, allocations or whether the $2B target was superseded. Neither figure is counted as a verified final round total.
SoftBank Group · KKR · General Atlantic · Primavera Capital Group
Forbes reported a closed $3B round, but described named investors as committed, attributed details to one person familiar with the matter and noted ByteDance declined comment. Its October 25 publication does not establish an October 26 legal close. SoftBank was a named participant; a lead role is reported elsewhere, not established by this Forbes account.
Investors undisclosed
Reuters said Toutiao was raising at least $2B; General Atlantic was only a potential new investor and could lead. This does not establish a closed Series E, investor allocation, precise final amount or valuation.
Sequoia Capital China · CCB International
Axios reported around $1B raised in Series D, about $11B valuation and Sequoia China/CCB International among participants; it said the round appeared to have closed at the end of 2016. Reuters later repeated that late-2016 timing. Neither account proves a December 30 legal close or a lead allocation.
Sequoia Capital (lead) · Weibo Corporation
TechNode reported Toutiao announced a secured $100M Series C led by Sequoia and followed by Weibo at a $500M valuation. Its June 3 publication is not proof of a June 1 legal close; Shunwei was not named in this account.
Yuri Milner
TechNode described an eight-digit USD Series B from Yuri Milner, founder of DST, in 2013; it did not establish exactly $10M, a September close, Qihoo participation or that DST Global was the legal investor.
SIG
TechNode described seven-digit USD first-round funding from SIG in 2012 without the exact amount, instrument, legal entity or month. The imported $1M July 1 Series A precision is unsupported.
