Firehawk Defense closed more than $150 million in Series D funding at a valuation above $1.4 billion to expand rocket motor and propellant manufacturing, the company announced October 28. Advent International and Rochefort Asset Management led the round.

The Dallas-based company makes propellant and rocket motors for American and allied defense customers. Firehawk says its continuous thermoplastic process forms propellant in hours, shortening work that conventional production methods take weeks to complete.

The funding will expand Firehawk’s Lawton, Oklahoma, propellant plant and its Crawford, Mississippi, missile integration site. Rochefort said Crawford is already assembling Hydra-70 rockets, while the Lawton plant is expected to be commissioned in early 2027.

The financing is more than twice the size of Firehawk’s $60 million Series C, which closed in September 2025 under lead investor 1789 Capital. Rochefort had also supplied a senior secured loan in April 2026.

Firehawk also has an artillery route to market through General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems. Their May 2026 agreement covers development and production of 155mm base-bleed motors, which burn propellant behind a shell to cut drag and extend range. The partners combine Firehawk’s propellant and molding methods with General Dynamics’ metal-parts and ammunition-integration capabilities.

Firehawk plans to pursue US Army qualification over 12 to 18 months, Reuters reported in a story carried by Investing.com. Its first artillery motor sales are intended for allied nations. For 2027, the company is targeting output of more than 100,000 artillery motors.
