Memrise co-founder Ed Cooke's Mindmax has raised $3.3 million for an AI tutor focused on professional exams and workplace skills, lead investor Concept Ventures announced. Helsing co-founder Torsten Reil joined as an angel investor.

Cooke founded Mindmax with Daniel Zohar, who spent more than a decade as Memrise's technology chief. Concept says thousands already use Mindmax for professional exams.

According to Mindmax, its iPhone and Android app organizes daily spoken lessons around a learner's goal and adjusts them as the learner answers. One example on its website pairs an NCLEX study plan with a lesson on drug classifications.

Redrice Ventures, Daybreak Ventures and Lerer Hippeau also participated, alongside former Depop chief executive Maria Raga. Cooke told Tech Funding News the money would support growth and technology development.

In an interview with Tech Funding News, Cooke described expert reviews of course content and technical accuracy checks. The outlet reported that Mindmax had not published error rates.
