Zipline announced a $1.5 billion financing Thursday alongside a multiyear agreement with Walmart to add 300 drone-delivery sites. The company will expand US manufacturing and hiring with the capital.
Zipline makes and operates autonomous aircraft that carry food, retail orders and medical supplies. It says it has completed more than one million deliveries in Dallas–Fort Worth this year.
Paradigm, WCM Investment Management and Layer Global led the round, which values Zipline at $21.5 billion after the investment. Its January financing raised more than $600 million at a $7.6 billion post-money valuation.
