ByteFuture builds computers and software for developers and individual users who want to run AI models and agents on hardware they control. The Singapore company, formerly Bytetrade, disclosed a completed $55 million financing in a September 11 announcement, backing production of its Olares One workstation and development of Olares OS.
Olares One packages the computing hardware with an operating system and application marketplace. A user can install an application from the market, launch it through the desktop and run its AI workload locally. The product page advertises more than 200 applications and describes separate application environments intended to limit access between them. For developers, the accompanying tools cover packaging, local debugging and distribution through Olares Market.
The intended uses extend from generating images to running personal assistants. ByteFuture sells the workstation directly, while Olares OS is open source and designed to work beyond that particular device. That gives the business two adoption paths: buyers of a complete computer and developers or manufacturers incorporating its software into other systems.
ByteFuture also describes a bridge to cloud models through Token Station. In its published workflow, an agent runs on Olares and sends requests through a gateway that chooses local or cloud processing according to cost, speed, privacy or capability rules. The company markets that service on a pay-as-you-go basis. This makes the practical proposition more flexible: users can keep selected work close to their data while accessing remote models when their applications require them.
The financing closed in June, according to the announcement, and brings cumulative funding above $100 million. Investors, round structure and valuation were undisclosed. ByteFuture says the capital will support manufacturing, North American commercial expansion and wider use of Olares OS. It also says its Kickstarter campaign attracted 816 backers pledging more than $2.3 million and that those orders have been delivered; pledges are an early demand signal, rather than a measure of recurring revenue.
The next commercial test is whether ByteFuture can turn that initial hardware audience into sustained use of its software. Its planned broader U.S. launch in the fourth quarter offers one route; adoption by other device makers offers another. The specific question is whether developers will build applications people return to often enough to make a dedicated local AI computer a lasting purchase.
