Corridian announced a $38 million seed round led by Point72 Ventures on Nov. 3 to develop crewless vessels for military cargo. The startup says it can add undersea capacity without competing for the yards and suppliers that build crewed submarines.
In an Aug. 27 report, the Government Accountability Office said the two Virginia-class submarines delivered in 2025 were each more than three years late. It cited delayed materials and shortages of experienced workers.
Corridian is designing its vehicles to carry standardized container payloads thousands of nautical miles without a crew. Its modular approach would let military operators change the payload for different missions, according to the company’s website.
The company said the seed will fund vehicle development, a research and development facility, and engineering hires. It plans to unveil its flagship vehicle in 2027.
