Guangyu Xinchen, which develops AI chips and supporting software for smart-device makers, has completed a Series A, according to Shanghai Securities News, citing the company's September 10 announcement. Its technology targets products such as smartphones, computers and robots that need to run AI locally.

The company's TC1000 tackles the movement of data between memory and processing circuitry. Stacking memory close to the processor shortens that journey, aiming to make better use of computing capacity when running large models.

Customers also need a way to get their models working on the hardware. STAR Market Daily reports that Guangyu Xinchen's EdgeAIon software maps model operations onto the chip and helps customers adapt and optimize applications.

Shanghai Securities News identifies Longteng Capital, Puyao Xinye and Dahua Venture Capital among the Series A entrants. The company disclosed nearly 2 billion yuan raised across six months; that cumulative figure does not establish the size of this particular round.

According to the company's disclosures, TC1000 has reached mass production, while later chip generations remain in development. Guangyu Xinchen says the financing and investors' industrial resources will support further chip production and work connecting AI processing on devices with processing in the cloud.

With customer application development underway, the practical test is whether device makers can integrate the chips and software efficiently enough to turn engineering projects into repeat production orders.
