Harbinger raised $240 million in Series D funding to expand the technology behind its electric and hybrid trucks into power and defense, the company announced November 5. The money will also support increased manufacturing capacity for its medium-duty vehicles.

Tiger Global, Capricorn’s Technology Impact Fund and Ridgeline co-led the round, with Fidelity Management & Research Company and returning investor FedEx among the participants. The financing is 50% larger than the $160 million Series C Harbinger announced in November 2025.

The Garden Grove, California, manufacturer supplies electric and hybrid chassis that other companies can fit with bodies for delivery trucks and specialty vehicles. FedEx has ordered 2,000 electric trucks worth more than $300 million, with deliveries planned by the end of 2027. Its initial order, announced alongside the 2025 Series C, covered 53 vehicles.

Harbinger launched its Industria business in January to sell its battery technology as separate energy storage and auxiliary power systems. It named Airstream as the first customer, with a system designed to run air conditioning in the Trade Wind 27FB travel trailer during off-grid camping.

Its defense division, Praesidia, uses the same plug-in hybrid chassis developed for commercial vehicles, according to Harbinger’s June launch announcement. American Rheinmetall said in July that it had won an 18-month Army contract for autonomous vehicles to transport supplies to and from frontline troops, with Harbinger on the team. Rheinmetall is the prime contractor; partner Forterra supplies the autonomy technology.
