HiStarlink, the Chinese company known as 氦星光联, announced an A2 financing of more than 500 million yuan on September 4. It makes laser communications terminals: the optical equipment satellite builders install to move data between spacecraft or between a satellite and a ground station. The financing supports a supplier of the connections inside a space network, rather than a consumer internet service or a rocket-launch company.
A customer's job is to connect moving spacecraft into a usable network. HiStarlink supplies the equipment at each end of those links. Its product catalog spans satellite terminals, ground optical transmitting and receiving systems, and components such as optical modules and infrared cameras. The company offers different terminal families for different communications requirements, alongside the parts needed to assemble the larger system. Its business sits inside the satellite supply chain, where builders integrate communications equipment with the rest of a spacecraft.
Founded in 2021, HiStarlink has been developing the manufacturing side alongside the technology. Its company history records a Wuxi operation established in 2024 for satellite-terminal assembly, integration and testing. The product catalog describes successive generations aimed at reducing weight and power consumption, then improving cost, delivery speed and suitability for batch production. Those are company descriptions of its engineering priorities, not independently verified cost savings. They explain why a lighter, repeatable product can matter as much to a satellite builder as a headline transmission speed.
A concrete application is the Three-Body Computing Constellation, a project connecting computing satellites in orbit. The STAR Market Daily reported that the first 12 satellites, launched in May 2025, carried 24 HiStarlink laser terminals and demonstrated 11 links between satellites. That gives the business a multi-satellite reference project, beyond an isolated component demonstration. It does not establish a continuing order book or prove that the same manufacturing process can supply a much larger constellation at the required pace.
The Xiongan Science and Technology Innovation Growth Equity Investment Fund and Wuhan Optics Valley Science and Technology Industry Investment Fund co-led the A2, with other institutional investors participating. The company says proceeds will support faster laser-network products, production expansion and new applications. The disclosed 500 million yuan threshold is approximately $74.5 million at the European Central Bank's September 4 reference rates; the exact amount above that threshold was not disclosed. This is separate from its earlier A1 financing in January, not its cumulative funding for the year.
The commercial opportunity depends on customers moving from a small network to repeated satellite deployments. For HiStarlink, that means delivering terminals that can be integrated, tested and replaced through a repeatable industrial process. A successful demonstration helps win attention, but future purchases depend on satellite builders' own schedules and on reliable equipment being available when they need it. The next useful signal is therefore sustained deliveries into operating networks, not another laboratory speed claim.
