Perry Weather announced a $110 million growth investment on September 9 for its weather-monitoring and safety business. The Dallas company combines on-site sensors with software and alerts used by schools, construction firms and other organizations deciding when outdoor activity needs to change.
At a construction site, the workflow begins with conditions measured where the crew is working. A safety team sets rules for risks such as lightning, wind or heat, and the system sends notifications when those thresholds are reached. Outdoor sirens and phone alerts can give workers a consistent message instead of leaving different supervisors to interpret different weather apps.
The same system has a different everyday use on a school campus: helping coaches coordinate a pause in practice and track the waiting period after a lightning alert. Perry Weather's dashboard brings multiple locations together. Historical weather records also let operators review what happened during a delay rather than reconstruct the event later from scattered messages.
The business sells a combination of connected hardware and cloud software to organizational customers, not simply a consumer forecast. Perry Weather says more than 3,000 organizations use its products across sectors including education, construction, manufacturing and local government. Its investment announcement describes improved forecasting and operational AI as development priorities; those plans are distinct from its existing monitoring and notification functions.
Silversmith Capital Partners led the investment, with participation from returning backer Arthur Ventures. The company plans to add more than 50 roles through 2027 and expand its product capabilities. Citybiz separately reported the financing and the planned Dallas expansion.
The value of this service depends on turning local measurements into timely action that people understand. Automating an alert does not eliminate a safety leader's responsibility or guarantee that an activity is safe. As more sites connect, the practical challenge is keeping the hardware reliable, the rules appropriate and the response consistent when weather changes quickly.
